Dear IAnDian,

A noticeably big, heartfelt "Thank you" for your words of encouragement and appreciation for our mini web series 'Dhara'. You help us push the envelope and we so love you for it!

This week, you will get to see three episodes of Dhara and yet another new story in our ongoing special - Nostalgia. Besides, we bring you the interiors of a beautiful shack-like pizzeria from Vietnam and the dynamic aesthetics of an office from Bengaluru, which is also our cover story featuring another young talent - interior designer Shruthy Sanghvi, who ingeniously plays with stripes on the flooring! Do check it out, it's very interesting.

We look forward to your views as usual - the email is editor@indiaartndesign.com

Take care. Enjoy the issue.

Until next week...

Warmly,

Dear IAnDian,

One sure way of beating the blues of the pandemic is positive action. And Team IAnD is doing this in two special ways: we've just kicked in a special series called 'Nostaligia' that has some of the best architects and designers reminisce about the projects or nuances thereof that they hold extra-close to their hearts. This week, you will get to read stories from Ar. Reza Kabul and Ar. Gurjit Singh Matharoo.

The second is an upcoming series on our YouTube channel, where you will see stalwarts again - from various disciplines of design share their motivational messages with you; their creativity and positive actions that will inspire you to hang in with gusto and bolster your inner self. Stay tuned in to our YouTube channel. If you've yet to subscribe, do so now and you'll get notified as soon as the first of the series goes live.

In this issue, we are also proud to showcase some young talent - Saniya Kantawala and Saheba Singh, who are making a sure-footed mark on the hospitality industry. Their youthful ways and sense of style is commendable. Do checkout both restaurant designs - one in Mumbai and the other in Tokyo.

Stay informed. Stay inspired! Until next week...

Warmly,
Savitha Hira

Dear IAnDian,

The current news that has hit us hard is that of the possible extended lockdown. A sense of futility and the loss of lives around us bombard us with unpleasant thoughts, damaging to our self-esteem. But the truth is that we are all inherently resilient. And the best of the philosophical texts reiterate that we remain positive and respond to the challenges of life, rather than react to them.

Let us, therefore, shift our attention to all things pleasant. Motivate ourselves to continue to work the way we always have. Look at the horizon. Look for positivity and try our best to imbibe and adapt amidst chaos.

This is one reason dear IAnDian that we continue to keep your focus on the good things happening around you. The magic of design.

This issue comes to you after a fortnight. Carefully collated to bring you only the utmost sense of design magic. We have for you stories from Surat, Delhi, Istanbul and Montreal. We also bring you two stories that directly relate to the pandemic serving design solutions in the wake of calamity - CURA - quick and cost-effective ICU units designed by Carlo Ratti Associati - the proto being installed in Milan - an intensely hit city in Italy and the second is NOVEL - an IR thermal scanner that product designer Paul Sandip pitches as a handy tool to segregate the ill at the very first stage of recognising a Covid-19 victim.

So let's take a deep breath and pledge that we will respond with serenity and strength as we adapt to new ways of coordinating, communicating and doing business.

Stay positive. Stay safe.

Warmly,
Savitha Hira
