Dear IAnDian, We humans have a consistent desire to experience out of box situations. Situations that the adventurer in each of us can resonate with. Driving a constant need for betterment of the existing, are the three projects we bring to you this week: the House for the curious mind - a refurbished cultural centre in Amsterdam that is contemporised with great respect for its historic references and influences alike. A sensitive, beautiful makeover. An adaptive reuse project in Vienna that transforms an old bank building with its oversized concrete vault into a free range editorial office cum TV studio for a media house, playing on open plans and non-designated areas as the key to creative expression. Lastly, our cover story, Amit Aggarwal flagship store that has its interior styling complement its core essence - an unusual style of drape and silhouette. Dear IAnDian, When we started speaking of unprecedented times two-months-plus ago, little did we realise that we were going to face a series of calamities: from the pandemic to Indo-China strife, rampage in the US, Amphan in West Bengal, series of earthquakes in Delhi, migrant tragedies, gas tragedies, now Nisarga on India's west coast... a time that truly calls for resilience and resonance, world over. And the strength of prayers. But life moves on, and so do each of us with our agendas to make this world a better place. So, on another note, if you are paying close attention to our stories, you will notice that of late, we have been featuring a lot of young and budding architects and designers. Their approach and treatment showing a marked influence of sorts from various quarters; but, therein emerges a style that is waiting to break free and find its signature. This week too, we feature young architect Ayesha Puri besides other women designers - all having designed personalised homes. Seems like a woman brigade this week. Enjoy the read... Editorial Dear IAnDian, As we wrap up our mini web series Dhara with a ten-minute insight and message from veteran architect Jaisim Krishna Rao, we are flooded with requests from different architects and designers to start yet another web series - light-hearted and fun.
