Dear Reader, Rejuvenation is a basic human need. We all need to keep reinventing our thought processes, polish our learnings and leanings, and generally up our potential on a regular basis. I would say this is what 'being alive' is all about. Drawing your attention to our ongoing series 'My Go-to Therapist', this week, we bring you Ar. Rupande Shah sharing her mantra for dislodging her moments of creative block. It is interesting to note how each one of us dotes on some me-time to de-stress and re-calibrate our systems. Taking the thematic forward, we have two homes by Studio Saransh and AVG Archirecture en Interiors that reinvent neutrality and timeless appeal with distinctive treatments. While the former depicts an eclectic marriage of traditional Indian influences with contemporary overtures; the latter is a beatific exercise in a nude colour palette. Both projects will give you plenty of décor ideas to take home. Dear Reader, 'Simple' and 'simplicity' are words that find varying definitions depending on the individual's perception and criteria of cataloguing. In the stories that we bring you this week, Dipen Gada (our cover story) and Atelier Barda, club a pragmatic approach with meaningful interventions to define simplicity. Taking the two homes into account - the one in Montreal by Atelier Barda and the one by Dipen Gada in Vadodara, we see that minimal living is very elegantly designed with an aesthetic that fulfils a designated role in each case. Instead of extolling the plusses of the two approaches, I think I should just leave you to read the distinctive nuances of each... Totally recommended. Dear Reader, There are a few architects and designers who leave a deep impact on your psyche. One such is architect Margot Krasojevic from London. With a focus on encouraging cross-disciplinary dialogue to re-evaluate existing building typologies considering environmental, social, and technological change, her approach is not just scientifically controlled but refreshingly, and amazingly out-of-box! Dear Reader, There seems to be a lot of talk about designing post the pandemic - how spatial layouts will accommodate the 'new normal' where social distancing will perhaps be the tested path to a semblance of sanity in the wake of curtailing the Covid spread. However, changing behaviour patterns have already made a dent in the way people respond to the built form and to each other; especially noticeable among institutional and therapeutic spaces. One such story - the Delft University by UNStudio finds place in our pages this week. A must-read; the design explores how flexibility is ingrained in the core response of an individual and helps him navigate his journey with an open mindset.
