World Design days, Collaborative Architecture, SOM Architects, Ar. Jayanath Silva & more

Every day brings new developments, new achievements, new learning. Did you know that World Design Days are celebrated from April 12th to 15th every year to propagate and celebrate design? Well, we understand that this initiative could well become a movement, if people in various cities, communities organized their design pockets of fun and sharing.

IAnD chose to acknowledge WDD by showcasing a few academic projects that seem to work on similar principles of interaction and bonding and are in direct contrast to the hitherto practiced typology of everyday rectilinear-built formats. Two university projects abroad and one for a primary school from India throw light on the changing face of academic architectural approach and are perhaps predecessors to much more innovative design thinking.

Besides, our World Design Days celebration highlights the refurbishment of a beautiful barn; a simple design for an office in Mumbai; and a beatific circuit bungalow in Sri Lanka.

Enjoy the read!

Warmly,
Savitha Hira
