World Design Capital 2014, Team Design Architects, Sir Norman Foster, Ar. Zaha Hadid & more

At the onset, Team IAnD grieves the untimely demise of our beloved core team member and senior contributor, Mr. Udit Chaudhuri, who left us on Saturday, 14th June’14. Udit was not only instrumental in spearheading IAnD in its efforts as a design and lifestyle ezine but actively mentored its forays and foot forward. His insights into the subject of design thinking build an archive of timeless information, which he has time and again shared through the pages of IAnD. We deeply mourn his loss. The gaping void he has left behind will never be filled.   But life moves on and we bring you yet another issue filled with happenings in architecture and design from various pockets of the world.   Uncanny similarities seem to emerge as we review the building projects in Mumbai, Beirut and Korea. It is amazing that in different parts of the world, albeit distinct programs and footprints, the basic design thinking and solutions are hardly different. Elements of interactivity seem predominant – not only in building design but all over, as we check out the transformation through design at Cape Town or even the interior-exterior equation at the 13th floor villa residence in Thane.  Goes to show all human hearts tick alike!   Enjoy this issue and keep an eye out for the next few days at indiaartndesign(dot)com as we bring you an Exclusive Design Blast on all things FIFA 2014!!   Stay tuned in… Warmly, Savitha Hira Editor
